Summary of Position

Job Title: Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey- Round 6 – Field Work Supervisor

Duration: Six (6) months starting from 21 January 2019 to 20 July 2019.

Description

Objective and Tasks:

 

Field work supervisors are mainly responsible for guiding/managing data collection teams comprising three enumerators and anthropometric measurers & water quality testers. S/He is overall responsible to ensuring the quality of the entire data collection work and products. It is the responsibility of every supervisors to follow code of conduct and ethical research, and specifically:  
1. Supervise data enumerators through assuring the quality of household data collected, water quality testing tools and anthropometric measurements.  
2. Closely monitor the entire data collection process, verify and ensure the quality of information received and stored in the data collection software tools (tablet).   
3. Report any pertaining issues to the CBS immediately. 
Initially, the supervisors will be trained for one month on the different modules and questionnaires of the Nepal Multiple Indicators Cluster Survey (NMICS) Round 6 using Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) methods in tablets and then only they will be deployed in the field for five months.
During the span of five months in the field, each team will have to visit at least 36 clusters and conduct data collection based on the household listing provided by CBS.

 

Qualifications: 

1) Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably with statistics and Mathematics.

2) Experience: Relevant work experience of minimum 3 years in managing big surveys, preferably at the national level surveys or census.

3) Competency: Fluency in English and Nepali, computer literate & familiarity with Microsoft Office software, capable of using tablets for data entry and Nepali typing is an added advantage.

4) Age/Sex: For male 18-35 and for female 18-40 years

5) Must be Nepali Citizen

The responsibility of the field work supervisor is to lead, supervise and manage a team of four that included three enumerators and one anthropometric measurer/water quality tester
The field work supervisor should be willing to be placed in any of the geographic regions such as Mountain, Hill or Terai is a prerequisite for this work.

As this assignment involves working across the country, therefore, preference will be given to candidate from diverse culture and geography from across the seven provinces of Nepal.

 

 

Reporting Relationship:

The supervisor will work under the direct supervision of Gender and Social Statistics Section of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Social Policy, Evidence and Evaluation Section (SPEE) of UNICEF Nepal.

 

 

Working Conditions:


The supervisors will be mobilized in any of the seven provinces and must cover at least 36 primary sampling units (cluster) out of 512 that is about 900 households over a period of five months. Each individual field deployments will be determined as per the field deployment plan developed by CBS.
The field work supervisor can be deployed in any of the geographic regions such as Mountain, Hill and Terai.
